Talk about two worlds… 2012 is a walking contradiction already, but here we are in the midst of it, electro versus acoustic.

We’ve been getting together with acoustic guitars (and a piano) a lot lately, sitting together with our songs and talking. Four voices, intimate, raw. Even added a Beatles song.

A new song is already born from these sessions and is in the mixing stage. That track will likely be out in June. The others are works in progress, but we’ll be together with Dan (the producer) again to flesh out one or two of those at the Lakehouse later in the week.

Meanwhile, across the country, in Los Angeles, one of our good friend, Le Youth, has done a dance / nu-disco remix of “Plus One Minus One”. That will be showing it’s beautiful face any day now (if it leaks) but will be out next week for real. Catch it May 14.

So one is unplugged. The other is plugged. Digital versus analog.

Unexpected. Just as we’re moving on to our newest single, we have been honored as the number one band to follow on Tumblr for the Western photograph series. The top ten are here, and include remarkable blogs by Paramore’s Haley Williams, The Maine, blink-182′s Mark Hoppus, The Dangerous Summer’s AJ Perdomo, Jenny Owen Youngs, VersaEmerge’s Sierra Kusterbeck, FIDLAR, The Swellers’ Jonathon Denier, and Heroes and Underdogs’ Kayla Loren.

Purevolume’s editors highlighted something we thought of as just a natural extension of the song “Western” – day by day, we added a 100-year-old family photograph with hand-written lyrics. You can still check those out, and it’s all compiled now in the video with actual footage from the west back then.

UPDATE: DC-101 aired “Western” on the radio twice, we gained an hour of sunlight, the tree blossoms are everywhere, and I feel the opposite of rage-quitting with all the big things coming up. Good week!

UPDATE 2: (03/23/12) “Western” spins again on the radio and we’re a week away from the release of the brand new song “+1 -1″. A friend of ours in Los Angeles has already remixed the new song and that version will be coming to you soon after the official release April 1st.

In unexpected news, the new single “Western” played on the radio last week. DC-101 aired the radio debut. The song is up on iTunes, Amazon and a bunch of other places online.

Our next single will be coming straight to you very soon. It’s called “+1 -1″. Listen to a preview of it at the end of the “Western” video.

And, yes, we’re ready for the zombie apocalypse. Big fans of the the show The Walking Dead!
